“Could not contact Master Game Server to retrieve Server list” Problem Solved

When I installed Counter-Strike 1.6 for the first time and tried to find Servers to play online, a message used to come, “Could not contact Master Game Server to retrieve Server list”. This made me angry, but finally I found out the solution to get rid of this message and get a list of best servers to play online.

• Masterserver is a server which tells clients (that's YOU) what are the IP addresses of game servers. What you need to do is change the default MasterServer IP address to Setti MasterServer IP address. To do that follow the instructions;

1. Download the Setti 'MasterServers.vdf' by clicking hear
2. Once downloaded just extract the ‘MasterServer.vdf’ file to …\Valve\Counter-Strike 1.6\platform\config
3. Windows will ask u to overwrite the existing ‘MasterServer.vdf’ , click yes.

Now you can find more than 1000 Counter-Strike 1.6 Servers. Join the one which you like and have fun.

(Note: If you have a steam Counter-Strike than don’t forget to change the ‘MasterServer.vdf’ to Read-only attribute after overwriting it in the ‘config’ folder)
